Jim Foster joined Salve Regina in 2012, bringing over 25 years of coaching experience with him, as well as proven track record of success.

Foster has coached at the professional, Division I, and Division III levels, spending time with Hargrave Military, Central Connecticut State University, the Aschaffenburg Stallions, Nichols College, Dean College, Brown University, Trinity College, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and Salisbury State University. 

Foster has compiled numerous coaching accomplishments over his career. He resurrected the Nichols College football program from 25 straight losses to a winning program in just three years. During his time at Dean College, he led his team to a 15-3 record while being ranked 18th in the nation. While the defensive coordinator at Trinity College, his nationally ranked defense never lost more than three games in a season over his nine years on staff. Foster also coached in the Estonia Bowl in 1989, which marked the first American-style football game ever to be played in the Soviet Union.

Foster earned a bachelor of science degree in health, physical education, and recreation from the University of Oklahoma in 1970 and a master of science degree in education from Salisbury State University in 1979. He currently resides in Saunderstown, R.I.
