Pringle polishes regular-season finale with 27 points
BRISTOL, R.I. - Salve Regina University men's basketball (17-8; 15-3 CCC), the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference Championships, avenged an earlier home loss to Roger Williams University with a 68-52 road victory in the regular-season finale. Sophomore guard Isiah Pringle (Queens, N.Y.) scored a career-high 27 points in the revenge match, one point better than his previous career high last week in a 91-61 revenge victory at Wentworth.
Salve Regina led from wire to wire in the contest, beginning with a three-point basket by Isiah Pringle. Pringle would go on to have a big first half, scoring 21 points in the frame including five three-pointers.
The Hawks pulled within four early on, with James LeCardi (Fair Haven, N.J.) putting in a layup to make it an 12-8 game, but the Seahawks would respond with an 11-0 run to take a 15-point lead. In the period, the Hawks went 8-of-24 from the field (33.3%) and went into the break trailing by a 38-19 margin.
In the second half, Salve Regina continued to maintain its dominant lead, going on top by as many as 29 in the period. Though the Hawks were able to get to the foul line in the half, shooting 13-of-16 at the line, the team still shot only 33.3% in the half (9-of-27).
Flanagan led the Hawks with 14 points and a pair of blocks. Mike Igoe (Lexington, Mass.) added 12 points and four rebounds off the bench. Mike Engemann (Red Bank, N.J.) had four points and four steals.
