Jentgen, Sweeney recognized by NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Team
NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University senior Ian Jentgen and junior Brian Sweeney have been selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 2011 College Division Men Scholar All-East Region Team. Jentgen was announced as a member of the second team, while Sweeney earned honorable mention recognition.

Seahawk men's and women's soccer programs earn NSCAA College Team Academic Award
NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University men's and women's soccer teams have each been honored as recipients of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award. This marks the second consecutive year that both programs have earned the award.

McAllister and Jentgen were both selected to the All-CCC Second Team, while Knoth and Camarda each earned All-CCC Honorable Mention.

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Senior forward Sean McAllister (No. Arlington, N.J.) saw his first action in the second half and broke a scoreless tie in the 53rd minute to lift Salve Regina University men's soccer to a 4-0 non-league win over visiting Fitchburg State University at Gaudet Field.

MILTON, Mass.- Curry College tied Salve Regina University, 0-0 in double overtime, in CCC action on Saturday in Milton. With the tie the Colonels finish the regular season at 9-9-2 overall and 2-5-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Seahawks move to 6-8-3 overall and 2-4-3 in the CCC.

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University men's soccer team battled Roger Williams University through two overtime periods to a 1-1 draw at Gaudet Field on a rainy Wednesday night. The Seahawks move to 6-8-2 overall and 2-4-2 during Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action, while the Hawks earn their fifth draw of the year to move to 9-2-5 on the season and 3-1-4 in the conference.

Knoth's second half tally propels Seahawks to 2-1 win over UNE on Senior Day
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Senior Christopher Knoth scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute to propel the Salve Regina University men's soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over the visiting University of New England during Senior Day at Gaudet Field on Sunday afternoon. The win improves the Seahawks to 6-8-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the conference, and more importantly, gives them control over the final CCC playoff spot. The Nor'easters fall to 2-10 on the season and 1-6 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A hard-fought goal by junior Ben Lewis in the 21st minute stood up as the MIT men’s soccer team defeated Salve Regina University, 1-0, in a non-conference men’s soccer game on Wednesday afternoon. The victory snapped the Engineers’ five-game losing skid and raised their record to 5-5-0 on the year while the Seahawks’ ledger lowered to 5-6-1.

Irene shakes up Seahawks' schedule at Huskie Fall Classic
Due to damaged facilities caused by Hurricane Irene this past weekend, the Huskie Fall Classic men's soccer tournament will no longer be played at the University of Southern Maine's Gorham campus. Instead the competitions have been moved to Deering High in Portland, Maine.

Men's soccer kicks off 2011 at Huskie Fall Classic
The Salve Regina University men’s soccer team has improved its record during each of the past four seasons under head coach Craig O’Rourke II, finishing 2010 with a 14-6-2 mark while earning its third consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tournament appearance, as well as its first Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship berth since 2004. The team’s steady rise, coupled with the return of seven starters including leading scorer and All-Region First Team selection Sean McAllister (North Arlington, N.J.), has produced much optimism surrounding the Seahawks as they head into the 2011 campaign.
