Seahawks place second at Eckerd regatta

TAMPA, Fla. - The Salve Regina sailing team finished second out of a 12-school fleet in the Eckerd College Intersectional Regatta March 5-6.

Senior Matthew Schon, freshmen Bob Lippincott, junior Mary Zeolla, and freshman Chris Jensen sailed 24 races against top schools this weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida. The team had a top level performance against Boston College, Yale, and the College of Charleston.

"Consistency was the key" said coach Michael Komar after they were able to open a large gap on the third place team in the last eight races of the event. Salve Regina will return to Florida for the Mendleblatt Team Race March 18-19.
