Seahawks' season ends with 2-0 loss to Sharks
NEWPORT, R.I. – The seventh-seeded Simmons College softball team scored two unearned runs in the top of the seventh to upset #2 Salve Regina University by a score of 2-0 during the opening round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship tournament at Toppa Field on Friday night. With the loss, the Seahawks season comes to an end with an overall mark of 24-17. The Sharks improve to 25-16 on the year and advance to the double-elimination phase of the tournament this Saturday at Brandeis University.

Seahawks earn #2 seed in ECAC Championships
NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University softball team has been selected as the number two seed in the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship tournament. The #2 Seahawks will host #7 Simmons College on Wednesday at Toppa Field.

Salve Regina ends Endicott's reign, 9-1
NEWPORT, R.I. – Junior Jillian Quintana (Denver, Colo.) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and five runs batted in as the top-seeded Salve Regina University softball team defeated #2 Endicott College by a score of 9-1 during the semifinal round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship tournament at Toppa Field on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Seahawks to 24-15 on the season, and ends the Gulls’ (22-17-1) string of nine consecutive CCC titles.

Seahawks edged by Nor'easters in CCC finals, 3-2
NEWPORT, R.I. – The top-seeded Salve Regina University softball team rallied back from a 3-0 deficit before eventually falling to the third-seeded University of New England Nor’easters by the final score of 3-2 during the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship finals at Toppa Field on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks conclude their season with an overall mark of 24-16. The Nor’easters earn the league's automatic qualification berth into the field of 61 for the NCAA Division III Softball Championship, which begins Thursday, May 10.

Top three seeds advance to final day of CCC Championships
NEWPORT, R.I. – Freshman Kelly Reid tossed a three-hit shutout as the third-seeded University of New England softball team (25-12) advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship tournament finals by defeating #1 Salve Regina University (23-15), 11-0, at Toppa Field on Thursday night. Second seed Endicott College (22-16-1) earned a 5-0 victory over #8 Eastern Nazarene College and a 6-2 win over #6 Western New England University to advance to the semifinals along with Salve Regina. Western New England had defeated #4 Roger Williams (19-23) earlier in the day by a score of 11-2 in five innings.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Senior Kristen Parolise went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in to spark the top-seeded Salve Regina University softball team to a 3-1 victory over #4 Roger Williams during a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship tournament contest at Toppa Field on Monday evening. The win improves the Seahawks to 23-14 on the year, while the Hawks fall to 19-22.

Scroope, Cruver head list of seven CCC honorees
NEWPORT, R.I. – Junior Jen Cruver, who was selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Pitcher of the Year, and head coach Kerri Scroope, named CCC Softball Coach of the Year, headlined a list of seven members from the Salve Regina University softball program that received conference honors on Saturday night. Cruver, freshman Laura Anne Dinan (Monterey, Mass.), junior Jillian Quintana (Denver, Colo.), and sophomore Marissa Simpson (Brimfield, Mass.) were named to the All-CCC First Team, while senior Kristen Parolise (Hamden, Conn.) was selected to the Second Team, and junior Ali Muehlbronner (Glenside, Pa.) received Honorable Mention recognition.

Softball splits regular season finale with MIT
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Salve Regina University softball team closed out its 2012 regular season with a split against non-conference opponent MIT on Thursday afternoon at Briggs Field. Salve Regina won the opener 6-2 and now stands at 22-14 on the year.

Seahawks earn split with Gulls on Senior day
NEWPORT, R.I. – After dropping the opener, 7-0, the Salve Regina University softball team scored in five consecutive innings to capture a 7-3 victory in the nightcap, earning a split with Endicott College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader on Senior Day at Toppa Field. The Seahawks move to 21-13 overall and 14-4 during CCC play, while the Gulls slide to 19-14-1 on the season, including a 13-3 mark in the conference.

CCC Player of the Week: Jillian Quintana
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Salve Regina University junior first baseman Jillian Quintana (Denver, Colo.) hit safely and reached base at least twice in each contest to help lead the Seahawks to a 4-0 weekly record, which lengthened the team’s winning streak to eight games. She batted .667 with an outstanding 1.417 slugging percentage with included two home runs, three doubles, nine RBI and two runs scored. During a doubleheader sweep of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Gordon, Quintana went 5-for-6 with a home run and seven runs batted in. In addition, she posted three multiple hit games on the week.

With the wins the Seahawks improve to 13-3 in league action.

The Seahawks won the first game, 5-4 in eight innings, and then took the nightcap, 3-2.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Freshman Laura Anne Dinan delivered a two-out, two-run, walk-off single in extra innings during game one, while junior Jen Cruver tossed a complete-game shutout in the nightcap to lead the Salve Regina University softball team to a sweep over the University of New England during a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader at Toppa Field on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks earned a 5-4 victory in game one and a 1-0 win in game two, improving to 14-12 (9-3 CCC) on the season, while the Nor’easters dip to 14-10 (6-4 CCC) on the year.

Seahawks drop a pair versus Anchorwomen
NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University softball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests to visiting Rhode Island College at Toppa Field on Tuesday evening. The Anchorwomen earned a 7-3 victory in game one before sealing a 5-2 win in the nightcap with a game-ending triple play. The Seahawks record now falls to an even 12-12 on the season, while the Anchorwomen improve to 11-6 overall.

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Salve Regina University softball team swept Nichols in a Commonwealth Coast Conference twinbill Saturday afternoon. Nichols made a dramatic comeback in the opening game, only to fall to the Seahawks, 4-3, in nine innings, and Salve Regina pounded out 14 hits to win the nightcap, 10-7. Nichols dips to 5-7 and 0-2 in conference games, while the Seahawks, winners of six of their last eight games, improve to 7-5 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Nationally-ranked teams spice Salve Regina softball schedule
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Recently-released results of a pre-season coaches' poll pick the Salve Regina University softball team seventh in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). In addition, senior Christina Walsh, freshman Jennifer Edine, and freshman Bethany Snow have each been selected as members of the 2010-11 NFCA Division III All-America Scholar Athletes team.

Seahawks hope to halt police streak
NEWPORT, R.I. - Cardines Field, home of the Newport Gulls of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, hosts another fall classic on Friday, October 21 at 6:30 p.m. (gates open at 6 p.m.) when members of the Salve Regina University baseball and softball teams compete in a softball contest against members of the Newport Police Department. Admission is free and includes promotional giveaways throughout the game.
