Phillips named TCCC Player of the Week
NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University junior Erin Phillips (Morristown, N.J.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Phillips averaged 25.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg as the Seahawks (6-6, 1-0 TCCC) posted a pair of wins last week. She poured in a career-high 31 points on 13-of-18 shooting to lead Salve Regina to a 62-48 win over Anna Maria on Saturday. In that contest, Phillips snared eight rebounds, blocked three shots, and recorded two steals. Earlier in the week, she dropped in 19 points and grabbed seven boards in a 64-53 win over Fitchburg State.
Overall, Phillips - who also plays No. 1 singles and earned all-conference honors in tennis this past fall - shot 63.0 percent from the field (22-of-35) and connected on three 3-point field goals. She leads both the team and TCCC in scoring at 19.1 ppg, and her 3.5 steals per game rank her first on the team and third in the conference.
The Seahawks return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Regis College for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
