Back-to-back: Pendergast earns second-consecutive Rookie of the Week award

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University freshman Marissa Pendergast (Medfield, Mass.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second-consecutive week.

Pendergast averaged 14.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals as the Seahawks won a pair of games to improve to 18-3 on the season and 9-0 in the conference. She dropped in 15 points - including 10 in the second half - to help the Seahawks to a 62-57 win at Roger Williams on Wednesday night. Three days later, she poured in a team-high 14 points in a 59-40 win over Colby-Sawyer at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Pendergast knocked down all six free throw attempts against the Chargers.

 

On the season, Pendergast is averaging 7.5 points and 5.7 rebounds, which ranks fourth and third on the Seahawks, respectively. She is shooting 41.6 percent from the field, which is second on the team.

 

The Seahawks return to action on Tuesday when they host Curry College at 6 p.m.
