Bantoms knock off Seahawks, 7-2
Hartford, Conn. – Junior forward Payson Sword (Princeton, N.J.) had a goal and two assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-2 win over the visiting Salve Regina University Seahawks in women's ice hockey action this afternoon at Williams Rink. Trinity ranked No. 8 in the nation, improves to 5-1-1 with its second straight victory and extends its unbeaten streak to three games. The Seahawks drop to 4-7.
Trinity scored four times in the second period to take a 5-0 lead at the second break. Senior captain forward Kim Weiss (Potomac, Md.) scored twice, while junior forward Celia Colman-McGaw (Manchester, Conn.) and freshman forward Macauly Bauer (Sheboygan, Wisc.) each notched a pair of assists, and senior forward Jill Roloff (West Seneca, N.Y.) and rookie forward Emily Kleidon (Oakdale, Minn.) added a goal and an assist apiece. Sophomore Rachel Porter (Franklin, Mass.) scored both Salve Regina goals in the third period. Freshman goaltender Kristen Maxwell (Nashville, Tenn.) made 10 saves and did not allow a goal in her 40 minutes of play for Trinity, while sophomore goalie Ali Muehlbronner (Glenside, Pa.) stopped 30 shots for the Seahawks.
