Chiuccariello named ECAC player of the week

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University freshman forward Michaela Chiuccariello (Winchester, Mass.) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's East Player of the Week, as announced by conference commissioner Rudy Keeling on Monday evening.

Chiuccariello led the Seahawks to a 1-0-1 record last week with a team-high six points. The freshman forward dished-out a pair of assists during Salve Regina's 2-2 tie with Bowdoin on Friday, before tying an SRU program record with four goals during an impressive 6-3 victory over Connecticut College on Sunday. She scored at least one goal in every period versus the Camels on her way to tying the Salve Regina record for goals in a game, which was previously set by former Seahawks Courtney Caufield and Danielle Darisse.

Chiuccariello currently leads the Seahawks with 10 points and six goals on the year, while also tying for the team-lead with four assists.  During her first nine collegiate contests, the freshman forward has compiled an outstanding .250 shooting percentage, finding the back of the net six times on just 24 shots.

Chiuccariello and the Seahawks now head into the winter break and will not return to the ice until January 6 when they face St. Benedict in Manchester, N.H. at 1 p.m.
