Seahawks visit Newport Boys & Girls Club
NEWPORT, R.I. - For the second-straight year, the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team visited the Newport Boys and Girls Club and spent time cleaning various areas of the club and playing games with the youngsters.
The team performed a variety of service projects, including cleaning the gym, doing laundry, and researching new gym equipment. The afternoon ended with an intense game of dodgeball between the Seahawks and the boys and girls of the club.
"Our time at the Newport Boys and Girls Club was very rewarding," said Seahawks head coach Jen Eldridge. "Our team enjoyed being able to give our time to help around the club and then being able to interact with the kids and see their enthusiasm was great. We look forward to going back next year, if not sooner."
The Seahawks opened their 2010 season with a 16-11 loss to Eastern Connecticut State on Tuesday. They return to action on Tuesday, March 16 when they host Bridgewater State at Gaudet Field. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m., but could be pushed to 6 p.m.
