Women's lacrosse earns national academic recognition

The 2011 Salve Regina women's lacrosse program was one of only three CCC programs to be honored

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina women's lacrosse program has been honored for its work in the classroom by being announced as a 2011 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Squad.

In order to earn this recognition, a program must compile a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

"We have always stressed the importance of being a student first with our players", says head coach Jennifer Eldridge. "Our players have worked hard in and out of the classroom and are very deserving of this national recognition."

A total of 143 NCAA programs were honored, nearly half of which (71) came from the Division III level. The Seahawks were one of three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) programs to receive the honor, along with Gordon College and Western New England University.
