NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University sophomore goalkeeper Jacqueline McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) was selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) defensive player of the week on Tuesday, as announced by commissioner Gregg Kaye.
Making her first two starts of the season, McPherson led the Seahawks to a pair of victories, making 13 saves while recording a 0.45 goals against average. She opened the week with a 2-0 shutout versus Johnson & Wales in which she made nine saves to earn the win in net. The win was the 12th of the season for Salve regina, setting a new program mark for victories in a season. She went on to allow just one goal over 109:21 in net to help the Seahawks to a 2-1 double overtime victory versus Eastern Nazarene in the quarterfinal round of the CCC Championship on Saturday.
McPherson and the Seahawks will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to face Roger Williams in the semifinal round of the CCC Championship starting at 3:00 p.m.
