Seahawks tabbed #3 seed in ECAC Championships

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's soccer team was announced as the #3 seed for the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Monday evening. The Seahawks will host #6 Saint Joseph (CT) on Wednesday during an ECAC quarterfinal match up at Reynolds Field beginning at 1 p.m.

"We are very excited to be continuing our season after a disappointing loss last week," said head coach Kerri Scroope. "We're geared up and ready to go".

This marks the first time in program history that the Seahawks have earned an ECAC berth, and comes after a season in which they set the program record for wins, compiling a 13-6-1 overall record to this point.

The Seahawks boast four players on the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference team this season, including CCC offensive player of the year, Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.). Birrell set the Salve Regina season record with 49 points this year, while tying the program season marks with 19 goals and 11 assists.

The Blue Jays have compiled a record of 12-6-2 on the season and are led by sophomore Patricia Nolan's (Portland, Conn.) team-high 32 points and 14 goals.
