Ryan named TCCC Rookie of the Year; Gallipoli earns all-conference honors

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University freshman Kayley Ryan (Portland, Conn.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Year.

A two-time TCCC Runner of the Week and three-time Rookie of the Week selection, Ryan finished second overall and was the highest finisher amongst freshmen runners at the 2010 TCCC Championships last Saturday at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. She finished the 6k course in 24:27.

Additionally, sophomore Alexis Gallipoli (Branford, Conn.) finished one second behind Ryan (24:28) to capture third place and earn All-TCCC honors.

The Seahawks finished in third place with 56 points, behind 11-time conference champion Roger Williams (39 points) and University of New England (49).
