NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina senior Caroline Norton (Portland, Conn.) was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) female runner of the week on Tuesday by commissioner Gregg Kaye. It is the fifth time this season that Norton has received the honor.
Norton and the Seahawks competed against five Division I schools at the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet this past Friday. She completed the 3K course with a time of 10:56, placing her 21st among a field of 64 runners. Norton's time helped the Seahawks to a fifth place finish on the day.
Norton and the Seahawks will compete in the CCC Championship this Saturday at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. at noon. Eight teams will compete in the race which will cover 6,000 meters. The Seahawks are considered among the favorites to capture the title this year, along with the University of New England, and 11-time defending champions Roger Williams University.
