MIDDLETOWN, R.I. --The Salve Regina University field hockey team put together a dominant performance from the onset Saturday afternoon, racing out to a four-goal halftime advantage before adding two more in the fourth quarter to defeat Lasell, 6-0, at Gaudet Field.
The Seahawks wasted no time setting the tone. Just over two minutes into the contest, Elliot Lund (Beverly, Mass.) opened the scoring off a feed from Molly Kearney (Acushnet, Mass.), giving Salve Regina an early 1-0 advantage. The Seahawks continued to pressure the Lasell defense, and Grace Warnick (Clark, N.J.) doubled the lead at 11:35. Salve Regina struck again less than two minutes later when Reese Interrante (Hopkinton, Mass.) found the back of the cage at 13:49.
The offensive pressure continued in the second period. Lund scored her second goal of the afternoon at the 25-minute mark, converting a chance created by Warnick to give Salve Regina a 4-0 lead heading into halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, Salve Regina put the game away early in the fourth. Kearney scored with Lund providing the assist, and just 88 seconds later, Sage Mauro (Woodbury, Conn) added another goal, again set up by Lund, to push the Seahawks' lead to 6-0.

NOTEWORTHY:
- Goalkeeper Siany Ortez (Attleboro, Mass.) turned aside all eight Lasell shots on goal to record the shutout, while the Seahawks' defensive unit limited Lasell to just 14 total shots.
- Salve Regina finished with a 26-14 advantage in shots.
- Lund turned in the standout performance of the afternoon, finishing with two goals and two assists for a six-point day. Kearney added a goal and an assist, while Warnick recorded a goal and an assist. Interrante and Mauro each contributed a goal.

The Seahawks will be back at Gaudet Field on Wednesday, September 9, at 6 p.m. to host Johnson & Wales University.
